I spotted this picture over at the Cute Overload blog today and the geek in me just couldn't resist. Those of you who are *gasp* unfamiliar with Frank Herbert's monumental sci-fi novel series (and their film adaptations) will not get the reference at all. And yes, I'm aware that I'm not at all original - there's already at least two other lolcat homages to Dune floating about in cyberspace,

An aside: I stuck a lolcat image macro at the end of every slide presentation I gave in med school. True story. My lecturers were not amused.

I have yet to read the last of the Dune cycle by Frank Herbert - Chapterhouse: Dune.

Will probably pick it up after your lolcats reminded me I still have something left to read that has to be read.

True story. I actually started reading the books because I watched my neighbour playing the Dune 2000 RTS game.

And I started with House Atreides which were the prequels, when I was 12 - so basically lots of complicated stuff that absolutely blew my 12-year-old mind, and justified me reading it repeatedly all the way to Form 5 (spine of book is now scarred with creases so bad, it is now white), when I did started to read the original saga by Frank Herbert.

And realised the prequels paled in comparison.
