Lesson #16

Always order flowers a few days before St. Valentine's Day.

Photobucket

The florist stayed open till past closing time on St. Valentine's Day's Eve, much to the relief of the boyfriends and boyfriend-hopefuls of the small town of Manipal. Luckily, I've already filled in my order much earlier and I was only there to pick my posies up. I certainly don't fancy elbowing my way through that throng of flowerless flubs, battling nail and tooth for the last petals in the barrel. It's funny how some of the blokes even brought a female consultant to help them choose what sort of blooms they should buy.

Don't look like a "throng", you say? Well, what this picture don't show is the 15 to 20 guys perched on motorcycles parked right in front the store. They looked agitated so I bet they probably wouldn't feeling very genial towards some nut snapping their pictures.

I like this picture because the shop, with its light brightly shining out into the evening dark, really looked like some sort of beacon of hope and salvation. In a way, that's kind of true, no?

"I has no teef." *Roar*

Sock's 'ickle pupsicles have opened their eyes for the first time in their little puppy lives today.
Those peepers will turn golden when they are bigger, like all the other strays here.

Lesson #14

If you're reading this, you aren't working as hard as he is.

Man cutting stone blocks with a tool that's a cross between a hoe and a pickaxe.

Another lesson I've learnt today is to NEVER let my camera leave my side ever again. For the first time in months, I left my trusty Lumix at home instead of bringing it to class like I usually do and I missed taking the pictures of three Indian labourer women walking together - two of them had porcelain toilet bowls balanced on their heads while the third had a matching porcelain sink on hers.

Drat.

Lesson #13

Know English.

I spotted this when I accidentally made a 'weird turn©' as I was returning to Georgetown after a trip to Queensbay Mall. There was a great dirty signboard saying 'Georgetown' which was pointing towards a narrow alley. The phrase 'weird turn©' is an intellectual property of Inn Shan, and it was a running inside joke for us throughout the period of the Great Penang Road Trip. Good times.

Lesson #8

Always check your shoes for squatters
before putting them on.

SHOE

Two days ago, while I was walking out for dinner, I felt something strange at the tip of my toes. It turned out to be a milipede (which thankfully, was unhurt - Yay for shoes one size too big!). The toad that took up residence in my school shoes back in my secondary school days weren't quite so lucky. It's was crushed to a pulpy mess, and I only noticed it when I started making funny squishy sounds with every step I took.

Just kidding. You should have seen the look on your face, LOL.

Lesson #7

This world needs more puppies.

Lesson #6

Few things in life is quite as therapeutic as sitting under the stream of a hot shower with your eyes closed and your forehead resting on your knees while the warmth of the water beats your back.

mirror

If only there's something I can do about the cold once I stop doing that.

Lesson #5

One who speaks evil to you of others behind their backs,
can speak evil of you to others behind yours.
Listen, nod, but trust these people not.

Lesson #1

Though a guy may be the nicest, most blameless person imaginable, it still doesn't stop me from wanting to stab him in the eye with a dinner fork.

Fork

There a just so many things I'm learning as I'm growing older now - so I've decided to start this new segment in my blog to document them.
